VOICES INSIDE/OUT at Baruch Performing Arts Center (NYC)

On Monday, March 24, 2014, we presented five plays by members of the Voices Inside playwriting program at Northpoint Training Center, a medium security prison in Kentucky. The sold-out event featured television and stage stars.

Three plays– Objectify by Derek Trumbo, directed by Mary Hodges; Ghost and a Soda by Calvin Sturgill, directed by Montserrat Mendez; and A Brother’s Love Is A Brother’s Love by Troy Hughes, directed by Mary Hodges — premiered at the festival to rave reviews.

On Monday, September 23, 2013, Voices Inside/Out hosted a reading and talkback with Mel Nieves, the 2013 Voices Inside/Out Playwright-in-Residence.

On Monday, October 1, 2012, Voices Inside/Out hosted a reading and talkback with Holly Hepp-Galván, the 2012 Voices Inside/Out Playwright-in-Residence.

The event was hosted by literary icon and creator of HBO’s “Bored to Death” Jonathan Ames.

VOICES INSIDE/OUT at Theaterlab (NYC)

On Sunday, September 18, 2011, Theaterlab and AMZ Creative, LLC hosted a presentation about this summer’s playwriting program and residency at Northpoint Training Center.

Playwright-in-Residence Mac Rogers, who spent two weeks teaching classes at Northpoint in July/August 2011, presented information about his residency as well as scenes created during his time there.

Cast: Carlo Altomare, Gil Charleston, Chris Kateff, Synge Maher, Michael Markham, Mac Rogers Jordana Williams & Sean Williams.

VOICES INSIDE/OUT at Baruch Performing Arts Center (NYC)

On Monday, May 23, 2011, New York’s theatrical community came together to present Northpoint: Voices from a Kentucky Prison, a benefit reading of short plays written by prisoners at Northpoint in Burgin, Kentucky. This exciting, one-night only event will support the 2011 playwriting program at Northpoint as well as seed a two-week playwright residency at the prison.

and live music by Doug Wamble.

Theaterlab, a New York City non-profit arts organization, produced Northpoint: Voices from a Kentucky Prison, in association with AMZ Creative, LLC.
